About the Artwork
My son is preparing to move 3000 miles away for University. Taking a page from Shane Koyczan "If your heart is broken, make art from the pieces", I've been building a body of work around my experience of motherhood. It's a meandering body of work. This is a painting of the daughter I miscarried. Painting her into being, I gave her my dad's hair & Van Gogh's eyes, & placed her in a field of sunflowers plucked from the dutchman's vase.
