I have been fascinated by waterfalls since my childhood in Ireland as we would often swim in the mountain streams in summer , sliding down the slippery rocks in search of deeper more demanding water holes to dive.. I recently decided to work on a series of waterfalls using just my memories to recreate some of the most interesting waterfalls and certainly after visiting Shannon Falls and the local inspiring landscapes that our province offers . As .I explored more possibility of adapting the realism to a more abstracted approach I was at once aware of the enormonous possibilities offered tothe painter to express ideas in a less formal manner. the found myself more and more inspired to recreate the images in abstract form. This painting is one at the end of the series and it is the most whimsical of all the others because it relies heavily on light playing on color variations and suggestions of light playing on falling water..'
