Black Molasses 1
Not For Sale
Being the pioneer within the Metamorphosis collection (the aim of the collection is to show an evolution in the artist’s development and to inspire hope for other young creatives to foster their talents), “Black Molasses” is a self portrait of the artist which aims to depict the beauty behind what it means to be Black as well as the long history behind the sugar cane slave industry in the 17th century. The use of the molasses, despite its aesthetic appeal on the subject matter is the main emphasis of the piece; it represents the blood that was shed by the Africans who were slaves on the sugar cane plantations as well as the sweat and hardship that are bi-products of their morally unjustified and cruel labor.
