This piece was inspired by regalia that I saw at a recent Pow Wow I attended worn by a member of the Lower Similkameen Indian Band in Keremeos. The colours of the regalia have always fascinated me but at this particular Pow Wow, there was a gentleman dancer that was wearing the colours that you see in this piece. The beautifully coloured regalia and headdresses worn by the indigenous dancers are sometimes passed down from generation to generation, each carrying the stories that went along with them. This is where the title of “Keeper of The Word” derived from.
