Cut Blocks; West Coast Ghosts series
Not For Sale
'Cut Blocks' references cutblocks, land parcel boundaries assigned for defined forest harvesting. This painting shows the 'cants', or the blocks, cut from harvested timber that are ready for further planking.
Layering of concentric and circular patterns in repetition. Translucent layers over heavy texture, with some thick opaque application. Brush, knife, stencil and 'tube' techniques used.
West Coast Ghosts is a series worked over ten years looking at environmental concerns with contemporary art eyes.
