About the Artwork

While drawing or painting the human form relies on the correctness of lines, shape, mass and volume to create a believable illusion of the subject, I am more interested on the emotional state of the subject or the environment in which they exist. In other words, a narrative rather than a replication of the subject.
In Repose, I am exploring the acceptance of self, both physical and emotional, and how we relate to the world in which we live. Often other's expectations or our own judgement of ourseles prevent us from holding true to our own desires and values. Periods
