As a student of Conceptual Art in the 70's, I found Degas; sculpture 'Ballet Student Aged 14 Years' fascinating and so incredibly modern. The textural contrast of the inert bronze to the ephemeral breezy tutu and hair scarf a stoke of true conceptual genius. Surely the 'art of it' must end as the tutu disintegrates with age? My painting incorporates my daughters' practice ballet slipper from age 10. She is now 45 years old! I am waiting for my art to end as well.
