About the Artwork
This is a portrait of an old woman's cottage on the island of Inisheer (Aran Islands). I was told she lived here alone until her death, when she was well into her 90s. The bleak beauty, ruggedness, atmosphere and simple geometry appeal to me. I often wonder about her simple life in a raw landscape.
