This piece was inspired by the complexity of a forest pool. An abstraction, exploring the dimensions and reflective quality of this watery world. I was looking to find a sense of floating, falling into this space. I began this piece with loose gestures of black gesso applied with large pallet knives creating shapes and movement then continued building layers with thick and thin paint, scaping through, pouring paint, moving the canvas around, working both flat and at the easel with brushwork and smaller pallet knives.
