About the Artwork
This seascape passage looks North up the Howe Sound with Boyer Island on the right. Whales are slumbering just below the surface in the pale evening light . While living on Bowen Island’s south shore, I so often witness the passing of whales, Humpbacks and Orcas. Whales sleep in vertical postures just under the surface in passive shallow “drift dives”. Waking late at night and hearing the breath of whales has been one of the most memorable experiences in nature for me.
