About the Artwork

Bounteous
Everywhere we see
bounteous abandon. Trust
providential grace.
Profusion
Une graine produit tant
si elle meurt. La profusion
vient généreusement. Ps 126:16

The Sturgeon River winds its way slowly over a level land. Meandering twists and turns leave little lakes behind and many spectacular moments. One autumn afternoon found me beneath a bridge among the long grasses. The laden heads bending in the wind contrasted sharply with the rich depths of the tranquil waters beyond. It is the light against the dark that creates the symphony.

Karen attended Julian Ashton Art School before finishing an Honours French Degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and a Professional A Teaching Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2016 she helped organize the collective “Devenir”. Her work forms part of collections internationally.

"We live in a fractured world. This chaos is evident in my work. In between the rivulets of paint and the textural accidents I choose colours and forms to suggest a landscape where beauty continues to reign. She is essential to the survival of humanity."
