About the Artwork
A commentary on Violence Against Women. The obvious anger of a man is directed toward a terrified woman in a public space. Bystanders observe the abuse but are afraid to intervene which is often the case when women face violence. The Yale Hotel is the oldest in Vancouver and cherished landmark. In the past, known as the best blues/jazz bar in the Northwest. Sadly this has changed but the sign remains as a reminder of those years gone by.
