As an Illustrator, drawing what I see was part of my training, tapping into my emotions and depicting them in paint has been a much longer journey. "Flight of my Heart" was created due to love and loss and is the best expression of emotion I have painted to date.
Swallowtail butterflies frequently visit our oriental lilacs when in bloom and apparently, although I did not know prior to painting this piece, "Gifts of the butterfly are eternal life of the soul through physical rebirth.", a lovely concept.
