I have painted Eugene many times. He was one of my first paintings accepted into a juried show, one of my first paintings to sell in Canada, and Eugene 3 won an Award of Excellence from FCA. This is the first time I have painted his full body, As I painted, I realized that the challenges of his life were not only reflected in his face but in his entire body. Eugene used to come by our house in Belize selling fruit, as he did on this day, with cashew fruit.
