Eric was my father. The painting illustrates some things that reflected what he did and who he was over the course of his life. It includes his education as a chemical engineer and his days of playing banjo on the radio. My parent's wedding picture is vaguely represented, along with a carved mask they purchased on their many trips to places around the world. It has his straw hat, his sweater, and his watch he wore on the day he died. Under his hat is the carved bentwood box that we worked with a First Nation's artist to design, with symbols that fit with who my father was.
