About the Artwork
This painting was inspired by an evening walk through the snow, deep in the woods near my home. It was bitterly cold, the snow was heavy and deep, and a glimmer of rapidly fading daylight illuminated the forest edge in the distance. I liked the idea of using a blue-dominant complementary palette to suggest a feeling of quiet cold, with glints of warmth to lead the eye through the piece.
