About the Artwork

I keep telling myself, *Soon I'll be there.*

I say it so often that sometimes it feels as though I'm already there.

My heart, my soul, longs to cross the forests and the oceans, to be with the people and places that have become part of me. The pull is so strong that, at times, it's hard to stay rooted in the here and now.

So I look toward the horizon. Beyond the trees. Beyond the sea. As if, by looking long enough, time might move a little faster and the distance might somehow become smaller.

This PaperScape lives in that space between here and there. It lives between waiting and arriving, longing and belonging. It is a reminder that while our bodies remain in one place, our hearts have a remarkable way of already being where they are most needed.

Silvina Lanusse

Parksville, British Columbia

Silvina Lanusse is a contemporary landscape artist based on Vancouver Island, known for her expressive use of monoprint and collage techniques to interpret the natural world in fresh, unexpected ways. Blending bold color, layered textures, and fragments of found materials, she reimagines landscapes as emotional spaces rather than fixed locations.

"Each piece begins as a whisper of land or sky and unfolds into a layered memory. Through collage and monoprint, I try to catch the poetry of a place just beyond reach."
