For me, painting with encaustic, creates a state of totipotentia, a place of becoming, where many things are possible. Since the medium of encaustic is incredibly malleable and fluid, I am able to mix it with vibrant pigments and embed sculptural elements. In playing with opacity, it allows me to obfuscate and create cloudy intensities. Once dry, it can be polished so that it glistens like a varnish or resin.
