Circe’s Reprisal is inspired by the myth of Circe, the enchantress who transformed a group of sailors into swine. The malleable nature of the wire allows for fluid, twisting shapes that suggest the disorienting process of change. The open, skeletal structure of the piece allows light to filter through, casting dynamic shadows that reinforce the theme of transformation and the shifting nature of identity.
Circe’s Reprisal explores themes of power, punishment, and the boundaries between human and animal. The piece invites the viewer to consider the consequences of unchecked behavior and the fragility of change.
