As an homage to the old masters this is a self portrait entirely comprised of the head. The background and clothing are kept deliberately dark with limited texture to emphasize the focus on the facial features without distraction. I invite the viewer to decide if the smile represents self-satisfaction or a wry acceptance of my lot in life or if it is even a smile at all.

Peter John Mark Klemm, AFCA
Surrey, British Columbia
Peter finds inspiration in his love of nature and the beauty to be found in the Canadian landscape. The exquisite detail and interplay between light and shadow invites the viewer to enter the scene and for a moment, lose themselves in the beauty and peace of the natural world.
"Art is an expression of one's soul laid out for all to see."
