About the Artwork

I am inspired by the beauty, and colours of the ocean; the ephemeral beauty of moody coastal skies during dawn-dusk, the aesthetic reflections in water, and the atmospheric colours and cloud shapes moving through the imagined atmosphere. The distinct coloured sharp horizon line intuitively depicts the transition between sky and water, but it also depicts a “line of raising waters” due to melting glaciers or a “line of fire” due to wildfires. This painting is also a statement that we can all make a difference, but we must all cross “the Line” to make an environmentally substantial positive change.

"“Working with texture and layers in my mixed media paintings gives me an opportunity to express nature in an abstract way, to encourage the viewer to be moved by its beauty, and to create a mood that will seduce the eye, soothe the mind, and inspire the spirit.” Monica Gewurz"
