About the Artwork

I used the symbolism of the candle and nuts to illustrate the concepts of Peace and Trust. I created the "Still Life" to support a colleague as her mother transitioned from life to death. The candle symbolizes hope, faith, trust, peace, comfort. The light and clarity of the flame represents the journey of life. The Raku heart candleholder represents home, and the sight of a burning flame brings us back home no matter where we are. The nuts were offered as nourishment, to sustain her in Peace and Trust in her new journey.

Marcelle MacCallum

Light’s elusive quality combined with the fluid spontaneity of watercolour continually challenges and inspires me. I am humbled and elated, always appreciating the feelings of awe, wonder, and delight they invoke in me. I “capture a moment in time”. My art is an exploration of energy, colour, and light.

"My art reflects my appreciation of the “Oneness of a line”, the “Glory of Colour”, and the “Joy of Light”. My art reflects my appreciation and celebration of Nature, Energy, and Light. As an artist and watercolour successfully mastering the highly demanding technical skills is an ongoing process."
