About the Artwork

The creative journey with this piece was such a joy as it pushed into a style incorporating realism, as I have worked in for the past few years, with abstraction. The goal was to create a dream-like piece that portrays the feeling and personality of the cat while moving into a more loose and free form. Imagine a painting with a piece of hand-dyed fabric laid over it with areas of transparency so only portions of the subject show through. In my minds eye, I saw the cloth as being dyed using colours that move from intense to soft values
