Painted in the tradition of the Dark realists, Kahlo, Munch, Blake et al. Unloveable explores the lies we tell ourselves when we live in comparison to others and find ourselves lacking. After my body failed me and my marriage disintegrated this was how I viewed myself. As humans we all go through this, I think, but we are indeed beautiful even when we find ourselves unloveable.

Bordering between expressionism and realism Copeman's work is also reflective of what is revealed in her dreams. Her work tends to be intuitive rather than conceptual.
