"Transition" is a graphite drawing that captures the raw vulnerability of a female nude figure contorted within the confines of the composition. Her body twists and bends in an almost impossible way, filling the space as if she is too large to fully fit. The exaggerated proportions and constrained pose convey a sense of discomfort and struggle, reflecting the emotional weight of being caught in a state of change.
Created during a period of profound personal upheaval, this piece is a visual representation of my experience with burnout, compassion fatigue, and depression. Stripped down to her most vulnerable state, the figure embodies a sense of being exposed and disoriented, searching for balance but unable to find it. The deliberate choice of graphite lends itself to the stark contrasts and fine details that emphasize the tension in her muscles and the softness of her skin, a juxtaposition of strength and fragility.
This drawing became a mirror of my internal conflict during a time of reevaluating my passions and identity. It’s a testament to the complexity of transformation—uncomfortable, raw, and deeply human. "Transition" speaks to the resilience required to confront vulnerability and begin again.
