About the Artwork
This art piece is a hand-pulled silkscreen. The pictorial plane shows a mechanized translation of the "Baybayin" script. The said script is an ancient Filipino writing system which was utilized before the Spanish colonialism. Unfortunately, due to 'cultural genocide,' people were forced to stop using this writing system. This art piece visualizes the abstracted knowledge of People, and Filipinos in particular, about this lost script. And hopefully, to gain back our lost script--our national identity!
