This painting explores the theme of immigration, history and process. To start, the usage of denim fabric came from the notion of the "Canadian Tuxedo". Thus, I am creating my own mark here in Canada as an immigrant. In addition, I also aim to emphasize the usage of the Acrylic Skin--the action of peeling off and gluing it in to a new surface--a synecdoche of a Body immigrating into a new place.
This piece also tells a narrative about myself. This art piece recollects my humble beginning, as an architecture student; thus, the usage of the perspective, architectural, and geometric marks. However, through migration, I decided to pursue Fine Arts; hence, the integration of organic strokes, lines, forms, shapes and colors
History and process in this piece comes hand in hand and are also crucial, as they become the visualization of the past--of my past, my experiences in life, decision making. And all of these are very important because these are the reasons why I am right here, what I have become and who I am today!
