This art piece is a hand-pulled silkscreen print and a paper collage. The pictorial plane shows a divided surface between a mechanized translation of the "Baybayin" script and hand-rendered calligraphy. The said script is an ancient Filipino writing system which was utilized before the Spanish colonialism. Unfortunately, due to 'cultural genocide,' people were forced to stop using this writing system. This art piece visualizes the abstracted knowledge of People, and Filipinos in particular, about this lost script. And hopefully, to gain back our lost script--our national identity!
