According to the Lunar calendar, 2022 is the year of the Tiger. But traditionally, babies even born in other years will be given a tiger hat as a symbol of health. This "baby tigress" in the painting holds a maple leaf rattle and pajamas printed with red maple leaves. The amalgamation of symbols show the integration of cultural identities in Canada, yet also the mix of two cultures born into the small body of this one child.
