In my new series of artwork, I decided to work with the idea of “letting go of perfection”. I was inspired by the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi, a philosophy which finds beauty in the impermanence, imperfection, and incompleteness of things. The celebration of roughness and seeing the unconventional beauty in things that are flawed, that comes with age or decay — which is evident in the wear, tear, and visible repairs of in a painting . By introducing a new philosophy of beauty I hope it spreads a deeper, spiritual message.
