About the Artwork
A hyper-realistic rendering of a crumpled piece of paper, “Chinook” reflects on the fate of British Columbia's Chinook salmon. Deciding if endangered Chinook populations will be listed under the Species at Risk Act is a bureaucratic and ultimately political process: one that involves scientific population estimates, models, and stakeholder consultations – and that turns living, vital ecosystem components into paper fish.
