During a two-month Airstream Caravan tour of the Maritimes, Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia stood out as my favourite place. Just north of Lunenburg, this tiny fishing village is deceptively simple, yet endlessly scenic—weathered buildings, working boats, and light that seems to change by the minute. The reference photo for this painting was taken while travelling to_Plein Air Paint_, and it captured the quiet rhythm and understated beauty that defines Blue Rocks for me. As I continue to learn and grow with oils, I’m increasingly drawn to how the medium allows for depth, atmosphere, and subtle shifts in light. While still a journey, I’m pleased with how this piece came together and how it reflects both the place and my evolving relationship with oil paint
