About the Artwork
The name of this painting, Eala, is Celtic for swan. A mating pair of escaped Mute Swans decided to make their home at the confluence of Alouette River and Pitt River in Pitt Meadows, BC. It was entertaining to watch them as they sailed gracefully by, foraged on the foreshore and chased the other shorebirds. It was a rare chance to get close to these beautiful birds as they would come up to the dock looking for handouts. In the end they were captured and relocated as the male liked to chase after the canoers and kayakers.
