This painting feels like a direct reflection of the view from my home in North Vancouver, where forest and atmosphere are part of everyday life rather than a distant destination. The softly layered evergreens resemble the familiar sight of trees seen through windows—partially obscured by mist, rain, or low cloud, their forms shifting subtly from day to day but always present. The trees feel close, as if they sit just beyond the house, creating a sense of intimacy rather than vast distance.
The muted greens, greys, and earth tones reflect the constant dampness of the coastal climate: moss on trunks, wet needles, and softened ground after rain. There is a feeling of looking out and pausing—of standing still with a cup of coffee, watching fog drift between trees, and noticing how the landscape quietly changes without demanding attention.
In this way, the painting captures not just a North Vancouver scene, but a lived experience, part of my life: the everyday calm of looking out from home into a forested view where nature feels steady, familiar, and grounding, offering silence and reflection as part of daily life.
