I created this painting to capture the stillness and raw emotion of a winter marsh. The cold palette—layers of whites, greys, and deep blues—evokes a frozen wetland, where time seems to pause. Sharp lines and textural contrasts suggest brittle grasses, ice, and patches of dark, exposed earth. There’s tension between movement and stillness, between decay and quiet resilience. I wanted to express not just a landscape, but the sensation of standing in that space—the solitude, the chill, the stark beauty of nature holding its breath. This piece is about presence, memory, and the emotional weight of winter’s grip on the land.
