About the Artwork
There is evidence that Homo erectus, in the late Pleistocene, was able to control and use fire. Fire could keep night predators away. They also found fire could make scavenged meat easier to chew and digest. The resulting gain in nutrition was likely a factor in the survivorship of the species.[ and hence, the emergence of Homo sapiens about 200,000 years ago]
