About the Artwork
The stone tools of a Hominid ancestor were found by Mary and Louis Leakey in 1959, in Olduvai Gorge. Later, they found the skull of the maker of the tools and called him "Handy man"- Homo habilis. The fossil was 1.3 million years old. He was thought to be a hunter-gatherer, but on further consideration it was recognized that he could not have been a successful hunter. More likely, by cooperative action and bluff he was able to scavenge.
