This painting depicts an early midsummer rose bloom in my garden. As the rose blossomed, the flower transformed from a pale yellow to a deep pink tone. Working from a photo reference, I painted the rose as it was flowering, striving to capture the light as it was reflected across the petals, creating a range of luminous hues.
