This wild Iris was painted shortly after I experienced it beside a small lake, deep in the Boreal Forest of North Western Ontario.
The iris is what makes the eye such a fascinating thing to gaze into. They change size and colour with their mood and the light that graces them. They are each unique like a fingerprint. 👀
I consider the wild iris (flower) the eye of the Boreal forest. Thus the name of this little sketch is “Boreal’s Eyes”.
More enticing than a rose, a glimpse of one
turns my head,
stops my breath,
and moves me
to saddle over for a closer visual conversation.

Hiebert started painting as a cathartic response to life's hardships. He views art as a means to fuel a deeper journey. His work toggles between wonder and rigour. His art is at times audacious, often bold, yet always captivating.
""I use art as a means of exploring the wonder of new ideas, and curious possibilities. Like one panning for gold in the streams of the subconsciousness, I pan with colour, shape, texture and sheen to find the golden combinations that silently call out me." ~ Andrew S. Hiebert"
