Painting on the Edge (POTE) 2020

Margaret Stawicki, Tree of life
48" x 48", Oil, cedar shingles, copper, $3,000.00
Tree is essential to life on the earth. In antient cultures and many religions it was called a Tree of Life. It is a symbol of growth and strength, with roots grow deep into the soil and the branches stretch up high towards the sky. My work shows a tree with one leaf which doesn’t want to give up and still holding to dried branches hopping to survive. Behind, an old chair remembering better time. Three colours of the background can be associated with three opposing forces trying to balance themselves; orange – heat and fire; black – pollution and distraction; white – clean water and clean air.
