Sheila Van Delft, It Was Supposed to be a Path Through the Woods
31" x 47", Acrylic on canvas, $795.00
It was supposed to be a path through the woods. We worked so hard to create a charming trail through the back of our property. We hacked through underbrush, sawed heavy limbs off of fallen trees, and laid out planks through the marshy sections, all to no avail. It was so swampy from autumn to spring that the planks ended up floating around and settled where ever they wanted, and I lost a shoe. When we could finally push our way into the forest in the dry summer, the underbrush was so thick we got lost. But despite all this, it’s still really beautiful in there. The sun dappling through the leaves, and the colours! The colours are simply magnificent.
