Rosalie Olson, AFCA, Petite Garden No.2

There is so much to learn about change in a garden. As art and science come together, we learn tending to conditions for success brings about a spectacular array of colour, texture, shape, and line. My flower garden is small and humble but infused with inspiration for my art. There are no short-cuts to seeing its beauty unfold. There is rhythm to this change not just in the season but in a day. And when the rhythm is broken by storms or critters, we see a deep-rooted resilience to adapt and return. Sometimes the blooms linger for such a short time which perhaps makes them more precious and awe inspiring. Even in decay we find splendour. Flower gardens are storytellers, helping us to embrace the beauty of change.
