About the Artwork

A Yakama Nation elder walks through a forest layered in vertical light. A Canada goose spirit appears within the trees - grounded, watchful, quietly luminous.
The forest acts as a witness rather than a backdrop, holding both the elder and the bird in a shared space. Neither dominates; both belong to the presence. The work reflects on the reciprocal presence of land as listener, life as interwoven. Within this woodland, protection is organic and coexistence is natural. Elder, goose, and forest exist in quiet continuity, sustained by the same breath.

Olga Bunevich

Burnaby, metro Vancouver, British Columbia

I am an artist residing in Vancouver, though my roots lie in the culturally rich region of Crimea. My creative practice seamlessly merges surrealism, symbolism, and philosophical inquiry, enabling me to explore complex themes. The breathtaking landscape of my childhood has profoundly shaped my artistic vision.

"My works are meditations on how the soul emerges through reflection, and how art fosters empathy by mirroring our most sacred internal experiences. I believe that artists are not only creators of images but also translators of cultural emotion."
