The text reads, "After all her loved ones had been repelled to a safe distance, she exploded into a thousand pieces." - Derrick Bauman
I wanted to express the fractured mind, the shattering of my life experience because of mental illness. However, this rendition is more a poetic image versus a life with psychosis and paranoia. The colours are sweet, the black lines clean and sharp, creating a romanticized view of madness. I try to whitewash my life, sanitize the pain out of it, deny the diagnosis, but the illness remains, the weakness, the flaws, the humanity.
