I painted this piece on Blackout Tuesday…a day designated to bring attention to the events taking place around the death of George Floyd. I took a walk to clear my mind and reflect on what was happening. I came across a garden with a beautiful Peace rose in full bloom and it called out to me to stop and take in its fragrance. With such sadness in the world, somehow it felt like a message of love and hope and it inspired me by its simple beauty. The painting was done almost entirely with the edge of a palette knife,
